How a local church finds a new pastor

In the United Church of Christ, the process of a minister seeking a new call, or a congregation seeking a minister is called “Search and Call”.  The first step a congregation should take when they are aware that they will be seeking a new pastor is to contact the conference office and ask for staff support.  Once that call has been made there are resources for the search committee available which will be very helpful.  The committee may want to look at the listing of employment opportunities on to see what information is typically shared on the website to attract candidates. Perhaps the most important is a document entitled “Search and Call: A Pilgrimage through Transitions and New Beginnings” this will present to a search committee a wide range of resources in an organized and systematic way.
