Resources for Authorized Ministers

These are resources for individuals who have standing in the SEC or in the UCC.  If you are looking for process for transferring standing to the UCC or for resources for Members in Discernment please view this page.

Communities of Practice

The Southeast Conference offers a number of Communities of Practice for our Authorized Ministers.  Communities of Practice are a monthly gathering of a small group of clergy whose meeting is facilitated by a fellow minister.  The group gathers for worship, connection, mutual support and learning.  COPs gather between 1-2 hours.  All of our COPs gather online at the moment.  We have special COPs for ministers serving in specialized settings and for women of color.  If you are interested in learning more or connecting with one of our COPs, please reach out to Rev. Cindy Bovee-Kemper- our COP Coordinator.

Scholarships

The Southeast Conference offers a scholarship for Authorized Ministers in the Southeast Conference for continuing education expenses.  This Scholarship, up to $1,500, is eligible to be used for Conferences, seminars, certificate programs, workshops, and courses. Funds for attending Conferences and seminars can be used for expenses such as registration, travel, and accommodations.  In order to apply, a Minister must submit an application with a letter to the Commission on Ministry as to why this particular continuing education opportunity is of interest and how it will benefit their ministry.  The Minister must also submit a letter of reference from either a) their calling body supporting their participation in this continuing education program or b) from  a collogue in ministry who can speak to the minister's ministry in the community when a letter from the calling body is not possible.  All the materials should be submitted as one packet to [email protected] or in hard copy form to the Southeast Conference at PO Box 1950, Decatur, GA 30031.  Electronic Submission is preferred.  A minister is only eligible to receive the scholarship once every three years.

Healthy Boundaries Training

Healthy Boundaries Training is a continuing education requirement once every four years.  The Southeast Conference offers a training multiple times a year, but ministers are able to take the training offered by any UCC Association, Conference, or National Setting.  You can learn more about the Conference's Offerings here.

Commission on Ministry Support

The Southeast Conference's Commission on Ministry is available to all Authorized Ministers in the Southeast Conference as a resource for continued discernment.  The COM and its sub-teams meet monthly on Zoom.  You can use this application to begin a formal process with the COM such as Transferring you Standing, Endorsement, creating a ministry covenant.  To request time with the Commission on Ministry, please email Rev. Davy Fosburgh for a conversation and they will help you connect with the appropriate team of the COM.
