On Saturday, April 2, 2022, folks gathered in both Atlanta, GA and Huntsville, AL to celebrate the installation of Rev. Kim Wood as our Conference Minister and Rev. Heather Fosburgh as our Associate Conference Minister. Here are some photos from the day and words of appreciation from both Kim and Heather.

Thank You from Your Conference Minister

I am deeply grateful and so humbled by the amazing Service of Installation we shared this past Saturday, April 2, 2022. What an amazing day it was! And what a new thing we did: word on the street is that the SECUCC is the first conference in the United Church of Christ to hold a hybrid installation service bridging to on-site locations and connected all over the UCC virtually!

I cannot thank enough Rev. Heather Fosburgh, who was installed as your Associate Conference Minister that day, for both the joy of partnering in ministry with her and all the work that she put into making our hybrid experience a reality.

We were blessed to have many participants from across the Southeast Conference and throughout the United Church of Christ share in the day. A special thank you to Rev. Dr. John Dorhauer, our United Church of Christ General Minister and President, who was present with us in Atlanta, and Rev. Darrell Goodwin, the Executive Conference Minister of the Southern New England Conference of the United Church of Christ, who joined us as the preacher of the day in Huntsville, AL.

Thank you also to our home congregations, Spirit of the Cross Church in Huntsville, AL, and Kirkwood UCC in Atlanta, and their respective pastors Rev. Richard Barham and Rev. Cathy George (SOTC) and Rev. Susannah Davis and Rev Charmaine Penn Johnson (Kirkwood), and the myriad of supporting folks from both churches. And a BIG shout-out to the technical staff from both locations, George and Jean in Atlanta, and Diane and Pola in Huntsville! You all rocked!

Finally, I am thankful to my family, some who were able to travel to Huntsville and others who were with me virtually, and to you, my Southeast Conference Family! Your support, encouragement, partnership, and love are blessings and gifts beyond compare.

With Deep Love,
Rev. Kim Wood

Thank You from Your Associate Conference Minister

I want to thank everyone in the Conference for a wonderful service Saturday and for everyone who was able to attend on-site and online. I am very grateful to the wonderful folks at our host congregations of Spirit of the Cross, Kirkwood UCC, and Pleasant Hill Community Church and their willingness to help make Saturday’s Hybrid Service a reality, especially the tech folks who made the service come together, Diane, Pola, Jorge, and Jean. A big thank you to all of our musicians Saturday including the Kirkwood Band and the Spirit of the Cross Praise Team, First Congregational Christian in Birmingham’s Choir, Rev. Troy Sanders, and the Liturgical Dancers from Midway Congregational.

Thank you to all of our service leaders especially Rev. Darrell Goodwin and Rev. Dr. John Dorhauer. It was wonderful to have the presence of the larger UCC in worship as well as the rich diversity of this Conference.

I am also deeply grateful to Rev. Kim Wood and her willingness to have a joint installation as well as the Southeast Conference’s Board of Directors support. I am so grateful and honored to serve this Conference and I am excited about what God continues to do in our midsts and with the wonderful people of this Conference.
