At Garden of Grace, we have always felt called to help our neighbors in need. When we were meeting together, we would collect donations in boxes as you entered the sanctuary before delivering them. We knew that there were still so many people who were hurting in our city and we wanted to help. With the spread of COVID-19, we had to get a little creative in how we gathered donations for gift bags to drop off with the retiree community right next door to us! Through porch drops, staggered visits at the church, and store curbside pick up, we have collected enough travel-sized shampoo, lotion, and chapsticks to create gift bags for our neighbors! The church mission team also purchased one hundred bottles of hand sanitizers to include in these bags. Mary-Hudson Harrelson (12) and Laura Cooper Harrelson (9) handmade eighty cards with messages of hope and light for the residents. We can’t wait to drop these on the porch for our neighbors!
