The Revs Nancy and Ted Elsenheimer from Garden of Grace UCC in South Carolina will lead a Mission Trip to Puerto Rico on June 6-13, 2020. In collaboration with the UCC Disaster Ministries and the Puerto Rico Conference, we will repair roofs damaged by Hurricane Maria. There are still thousands of persons who still need our help, even after all this time.
We will fly into San Juan on June 6 and leave June 13. We will stay at the UCC camp in Loquillo. Two staff take us to the job sites: one story houses where we power wash the concrete roof, fill cracks, then seal the roof…in a three-day process. In the afternoon we will go to the nearby beach or work at the camp.
We cook most of our meals, have some time for sightseeing and do group reflections. The expected cost is $500 per person plus your airfare (rental van, gas, food for most meals, and a donation to the camp). No passport is needed.
