Clergy (and Spouse) Retreat is March 8-10, 2020

Sparkling or Still: Come to the Waters!

If you have ever felt tired, overwhelmed, concerned about the future – this is a retreat for you! It is a “wellness retreat”: an opportunity to spend a few days away with time to reflect and be nourished; entertain thoughts for self-care; and build connections with colleagues. The UCC Pension Boards has been investing resources in helping authorized ministers stay healthy, with this retreat as a result. Since spouses/partners are part of the well-being of authorized ministers, they are also invited to attend.

Place: DuBose Conference Center, 635 College St, Monteagle, TN 37356 (Northwest of Chattanooga off of I-24). This is a relaxing retreat center with an outside labyrinth, and options for hiking and relaxing.

Who: All SEC Authorized Ministers, Spouses/Partners, and Members in Discernment. This includes those serving in specialized ministries and retired ministers

Schedule: We begin on Sunday evening with supper and conclude on Tuesday with lunch.  See the schedule below for details. The registration form allows for part-time participation.

Keynote Speaker: We welcome the Rev. Dr. Arthur Lawrence Cribbs, Jr. as our keynote speaker. Dr. Cribbs currently serves as the pastor of Los Angeles Filipino American UCC and is an ethics instructor for the California Department of Justice Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST). He is the Executive Director Emeritus of Interfaith Movement for Human Integrity (California). He formerly served as the Executive Director of CLUE – California (Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice), Executive Director of the UCC Office of Communication, and has an extensive background and recognition in the areas of journalism, broadcast news, and talk radio.  He also serves as a current member of the Board of Trustees of the Pension Boards UCC.

Accommodations: Two nights lodging (Sunday and Monday) are included in the fee. Additional nights can be requested by contacting DuBose Conference Center.

Cost: $20 per person (the fee is waived for MIDs). The Pension Boards UCC is generously providing the financial resources for the retreat. Checks should be made payable to the Southeast Conference and mailed to: P.O Box 1950; Decatur, GA 30031 indicating that it is for the Clergy Retreat. Payment is also possible through our online giving (indicate Clergy Retreat).

Based on current registrations, we are at full capacity for this retreat.

We thank the Pension Boards for their generous support of this event.
