With 61 in attendance, there was a great gathering of Nashville & Mid-TN UCC churches at the Upper Room UCC Fellowship Spring Potluck Supper on May 18th at Howard Congregational Church. Goal of meeting: to grow in prayer & communion with God and to grow in fellowship with one another! Guest of Honor for the evening: Rev. Char Burch (our new Interim Conference Minister of the Southeast UCC Conference!) lead the evening off with a blessing over the food & evening’s fellowship. Special Guest Speaker from Birmingham: Rev. J. R. Finney (Moderator, Southeast UCC Conference!) who spoke on “Taking Time Just to Be in God’s Loving Care.”
Next meeting of the Upper Room UCC Fellowship will be in the Fall on October 26th @ 5:30 PM at Holy Trinity Community Church. This will be a very special gathering, a 15th Anniversary meeting of the Upper Room UCC Fellowship! Interim Southeast UCC Conference Minister, Rev. Char Burch, returns then to be special guest speaker! Evening’s theme: “Let the River Run!”, the river of God’s love, peace and justice for a “new Jerusalem”! Evening’s theme is taken from the thrilling Carly Simon musical composition of the same name: “Let the River Run!”
Before Rev. Char’s talk on the evening’s theme, we’ll feature uplifting musical videos with a river theme, such as Simon’s “Let the River Run!”, African-American spirituals “Deep River” & “Down By the Riverside” as performed by the Boston Gay Men’s Chorus, as well as a musical video performance by the combined Gordano Gorgeous Chorus and the Gurt Lush Choir (Yes, that’s their names!) These two British community choirs are composed largely of older persons renowned for passionate, joyous, acapella performances! Save the date of October 26th for a wonderful inspirational program and a great potluck supper fellowship of Nashville & Mid-TN UCC churches in the Fall!
