Final Service of Worship at Decatur UCC

Decatur United Church of Christ has announced they are closing their doors, and will hold a final worship service on Sunday, June 10, 2018 at 11;00 a.m. Following worship there will be a potluck fellowship as they celebrate their community, service, mission, and family.

Originally Christ Covenant Metropolitan Community Church, the congregation joined the UCC and became Decatur UCC in 2011. Following the sale of their longtime church building on Hibernia Avenue in Decatur they moved to a more visible location on Lawrenceville Highway. The congregation’s most recent home is at 6552 James B Rivers Mem Dr, Stone Mtn, GA 30083.

As part of the closing of the church, the congregation is donating their physical and financial assets to other 501(c)(3) charities. They are pleased to announce that New Directions for Autism is receiving half of the chairs and some of their office equipment. Excitingly, the Real Inspiration Ministries Church (another UCC Open and Affirming church) will be taking the majority of our religious items including the altar, pulpit, and lectern; the banners and crosses; and the prayer candle station among other items.

If you would like to purchase church items, or know of a charity that could use something from the church please let them know at *protected email*. They are having a pick-up day on Saturday, June 16th and must have the building cleared by June 30th. All items that remain in the building will be donated to Lost-n-Found Youth for their use or sale in their thrift shop.
