For Clergy Women serving as church pastors, there is a place to go that will restore your spirit over and over. I am inviting you to apply for a program of five spiritual retreats over 2-1/2 years, Women Touched by Grace (WTBG IV). This opportunity gave me new life while I was serving as an associate pastor. We learned about spiritual practices, we practiced silence at one retreat, we grew slowly into deep friendships as we lived in community and every day we attended prayer with the Sisters of Our Lady of Grace Monastery.
The Sisters changed our lives with their daily practices, their hospitality and their friendship. It was for me, hard to realize the spiritual depth and hopefulness that thrives inside a monastery until I went through the doors of the monastery and experienced the grace of the place. Check out the Facebook page: Sisters of St. Benedict – Our Lady of Grace Monastery.
You might say, “Oh, I don’t have time for a 10-day retreat.” But once you have attended your first retreat, you most likely will say, “This ten days has changed my life and re-energized me for returning to my church and ministry.” In an ecumenically diverse group of clergy women, I found others who knew the particularities, the joys and challenges of being a clergy woman.
There have been three programs of Woman Touched by Grace. This April, WTBG1, WTBG2, WTBG3 had a reunion together. Gathering with old and new clergywomen friends and the Sisters renewed my connection to the power of Christ in community – in prayer, in play and in learning. The Sisters teach how to live joyfully as Christians as they work and pray for justice and peace in a complex, frightening world.
Apply today for Woman Touched by Grace 4 (WTBG4). Hosted by the Sisters of St. Benedict of Our Lady of Grace Monastery in Beech Grove, Indiana, this Lilly Endowment funded program has a 15-year history of ministering to Protestant clergywomen in an atmosphere of prayer and hospitality.
Application deadline has been extended to May 15, 2018 – Applicants will be notified of their acceptance by June 1, 2018.
