“Am I Good?” A Report from the Annual Youth Retreat

by Kyndra Luce, Circular Congregational Church in Charleston

The 2018 Winter Youth Retreat for the Southeast and Southern Conference was held at the UCC’s Blowing Rock Conference Center, January 12th-15th.

Keynote speaker Abbi Long, MA, MDiv, presented the theme “Am I Good?”.  (Short answer: YES)  Abbi brought Imago Dei (latin for “image of God”) into the discussion.  Find the hashtags #imgadeo, #WYR2018 on Facebook and Instagram.

Music by Gravel & Silk, a duo from Nashville, TN.  Mallory’s silky vocals paired with Micah’s guitar and gravelly voice were simply inspiring, and the committee is already planning to invite them back with a full band in 2019!

Saturday night, youth showed off in the Talent Show, with everything from songs to comedy to magic tricks.

And on Sunday, five church groups participated in service projects, serving food at the Hospitality House and helping deliver wood for Boone UMC’s Firewood Ministry.

By the Numbers:
