The Training and Counseling Center at St. Luke’s will start a Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) training unit on January 17th. They still have openings and are looking for pastors, priest, seminarians, vicars who would like to be trained as chaplains in one of our six non-profit placement sites.
The site ministry will happen in the mornings and the group education will happen on three early afternoons. (Total hours: 300 on site, 100 group education) FYI, with one unit of CPE an ordained clergy can start working as a hospice chaplain, which might be of interest to some folks.
Also, their training is unique in that they are not training in the hospital context but have their chaplains work with persons who experience homelessness, mental illness, poverty and addiction recovery, which might be areas where clergy who are interested in urban ministry might want to gain experience.
Interested candidates can go to the TACC website www.trainingandcounselingcenter.org to get more information about their CPE program and to access the application forms. The application fee is $60. The tuition is $600 for the 12 week training unit.
