Emmanuel UCC in Greenville, South Carolina was received into full standing as a local church during their regular worship service on November 27, 2016. Rev. June Boutwell, Designated Conference Minister, represented the Southeast Conference during the liturgy of reception.
Emmanuel UCC first gathered for worship on the first Sunday of Advent in 2013. They credit their growth to their web presence. Many new members found the church by searching on-line for a UCC church in Greenville. http://www.emmanuel-ucc.com/
They are currently worshipping at Christ the King (ELCA) on Pelham Road in Greenville. Holly Kendall, who was one of the original people committed to gathering this community and current moderator of the congregation, shared a brief history of the church. Rev. Vaughn Crowe Tipton then welcomed all those who wished to affirm their formal membership in a liturgy of new members. They all then signed a charter member roll as they gathered for a fellowship luncheon.
