cover20croppedChurch of the Savior UCC-Alpharetta, GA has partnered with nearby Johns Creek Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)-Johns Creek, GA to co-sponsor an ecumenical workshop, “Building an Inclusive Church,” March 11-12, 2016.

This two-day workshop, to be held at Johns Creek Christian Church, is conducted by the Institute for Welcoming Resources, a program of the National LGBTQ Task Force, which provides training to help churches from across various denominations create a way for their congregations to publicly and intentionally welcome people of all gender identities and sexual orientations.

Church of the Savior UCC is helping by providing food and volunteers for the event and, as an Open & Affirming UCC congregation, will share their own journey with other churches seeking their path to offering a confident and authentic welcome to the LGBT community.  If your UCC congregation is currently in a welcoming process or thinking about starting a welcoming process, contact the UCC Open and Affirming Coalition by visiting their website openandaffirming.org.

The “Building an Inclusive Church” workshop is an an ecumenical movement.  Please share this information with friends, clergy, and members from other denominations you know may be interested.  They may contact the Institute for Welcoming Resources by visiting their website welcomingresources.org/communityorg.htm where they will find resources, including information about this upcoming workshop and links to register to attend.
