UCC History and Polity Courses Facilitators: Tim Downs, Teaching Assistant: Leah Lyman Barner, IT Support: Gregg Carlson The purpose of this course is to explore the history, polity, theologies, and practices of the United Church of Christ and its predecessor denominations. The course will include exploration of current ecumenical conversations, denominational identity, African-American traditions within the UCC, case studies around current issues of polity and structure, justice and witness, emerging trends within the United Church of Christ, and more. This course will fulfill the history and polity requirement for ordination or privilege of call in the UCC.
2012 Winter Course: Tim Downs will lead participants through a twelve-week course on the history, polity, theologies and practices of the present UCC and its predecessor denominations.
