Start Up Kit for New Church Development
We understand that developing a new church is a challenging process. It is important to learn from those who have done this work before. We have designed a start up kit for developing a church designed to guide a new church start pastor and congregation through the initial stages of birthing a vision, articulating a compelling mission, setting up the structure of the church, building a budget and securing funding. If you are interested in receiving a SEC New Church Development Start Up Kit, click here.Vision and Mission Development
Developing a compelling vision and mission statement are often the most critical initial part of launching a church. You have the challenge of convincing people not simply that this church could exist, but that this church should exist. Vision matters. We have a staff of new church developers who are ready to come to your church and lead your congregation through a vision and mission development process. This process includes an examination of your group’s history and coming to an articulation of where your group feels that God is leading them. This service is of NO COST to your congregation. Developing a budget for a new church can feel like an impossible task. Where do you start? We have developed tools, templates, and resources for you to use as examples as your congregation goes through this process of learning how to be responsible stewards of your new church. We offer weekend training workshops to train the pastor and lay leaders on this critical piece of church development and will bring members of our conference staff to your setting to teach your congregation these skills. Once a quarter, we offer courses dealing with aspects of church development which are open to pastors and lay leaders. Some of these courses in the past have included “How to Market Your Ministry,” “Church Administration,” “Leadership Skills for New Church Start Pastors,” “Constitutions and Bylaws" and "Technology in Ministry." One of the advantages of denominational association is having access to a number of resources available to enhance your connection to the larger community in which you live. One of these tools is PERCEPT Demographics. We have the ability to run demographic studies of your specific geographic areas at no cost to you. If you are interested in receiving a demographic overview of your area, determine the 5 zip codes surrounding your church and email them to ctrimble@secucc.org. Our staff will be in touch with you within 24 hours.
